PITTSBURGH'S GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!

Who would have thought it! Certainly not me! But Pittsburgh's going to the Superbowl!!!!

All season, I poo-pooh'ed the Steelers, saying "They'll never make it to the Superbowl!" Well, color me WRONG (happily wrong) and bring it on!!!!

After Lukasz's baptism, we watched the Ravens/Steelers. Uncle Mike wore his Raven's tie to church, but apparently it wasn't enough to make God shine down on Baltimore. The Steelers came out on top and we'll see Arizona in two weeks!

Lukasz has his lucky jammies from Tina, Bill and Tyler Staats (Jet's fans who sent their hand-me-down Steelers gear to us just two games ago.) and his lucky Steelers onesie all ready for the big game!

HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!

LJ's Baptism

Happy Baptism Lukasz!

We celebrated LJ's baptism into the Catholic Church on Sunday, January 18 at our church- Our Lady Queen of Angels in Newport Beach. Both Steve's family (parents, brother and his wife) and my family (parents and sister) came to town for the event.

We all went to mass at 11:30am. The ceremony followed at 1pm, with Lukasz being one of four children welcomed into the church. (He was the youngest.) It was a very nice ceremony, presided over by Father Kerry.

Lukasz wore a little white jumper bought just for the occasion. We didn't torture him with the bonnet, but put it on him later just to capture some incriminating photos! He also had his "Jesus socks" as daddy calls them...just little white socks with crosses on them. He borrowed cousin Breckin's little white shoes and blanket  for the day. Uncle Mike and Aunt Cindy presented him with a beautiful silver cross from Tiffany. We had it blessed by Father Kerry during the ceremony, and he'll treasure it always.

Aunt Noelle stood as Godmother and Uncle Mike Godfather. It was a beautiful, sunny day and LJ was an angel. He was sound asleep through mass. He got a little fussy during the ceremony because he was hungry. He had a little snack, but was very content during his actual baptism. He coo'ed and ooo'ed at Fr. Kerry and seemed genuinely happy to be a Catholic! A priest, maybe? He was especially happy and adorable throughout. He didn't even mind the cool water on poured on his head from a seashell!

He did smell like "church" for the next three days, but it was a nice reminder of a beautiful afternoon and that our little turkey is now a part of our Catholic family.

Hanging out with Aunt Noelle

Lukasz got to meet Aunt Noelle for the first time this past weekend. They had fun talking Steelers and singing "Snuggle Puppy!"

Meeting LaVar Arrington at the Rose Bowl

We had our picture taken, then LaVar signed LJ's onesie!

Happy New Year: Rose Bowl Highlights

PSU vs. USC

Holly, Steve and Lukasz spent a few nights in Los Angeles to celebrate Penn State’s appearance in the 95th Rose Bowl Game Presented By Citi on January 1, 2009 in Pasadena.

We stayed in Burbank and enjoyed reminiscing about our old neighborhood. We took Lukasz to a few of our old haunts…Don Cuco’s for the best margaritas and Mexican food and Yujean Kang’s for the best Chinese ever!

We attended many Rose Bowl-related events such as the President’s Reception at Los Angeles Center Studios and the Eberly College of Science Reception held at the Jonathan Club downtown. We went to the Tournament of Roses Kickoff Luncheon, where Lukasz met the Penn State Cheerleaders. Then we headed to the Penn State Pep Rally at Beverly Hills High School where he had his first photo taken with The Lion!

Tailgating with our friends (and meeting former PSU great LaVar Arrington) on game day was, unfortunately, the highlight of the day. Although Penn State didn’t come out on top (24-38), the Nittany Nation was loud and proud, reminding us why it’s great to be a Nittany Lion! WE ARE…
